The Top Five WWE Superstars of 2013

5. Big E Langston

After serving as the muscle for AJ Lee and Dolph Ziggler, Big E Langston finally began to realize the potential for greatness in 2013 he had shown in NXT. After Paul Heyman helped him execute a nice babyface turn, Langston defeated Curtis Axel late in 2013 to win the prestigious WWE Intercontinental Championship. To take his character to the next level, the WWE must let Big E Langston start talking more, which he showed a great talent for doing in NXT.

4. John Cena

After struggling for much of 2012, John Cena won a big match against The Rock at WrestleMania 29. In 2013, Cena also showed he is still capable of great wrestling matches, as he had against Daniel Bryan at SummerSlam. Cena’s best promo of 2013 was rescuing an impending disaster as Daniel Bryan’s fans were in a frenzy on the last edition of Raw before TLC. Cena’s only real blemish of 2013 was failing to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

3. Randy Orton

Randy Orton’s pro wrestling career had been in limbo for several years before 2013. However, The Authority chose him to be the face of the WWE at SummerSlam. Although most wrestling fans weren’t happy with Orton this year, it’s important to remember that he’s a heel and he’s doing his job well if the fans hate him. Although Randy Orton needed lots of help to win most of his main event pay-per-view matches in 2013, he defeated John Cena on his own at TLC.

2. Goldust

If anyone had predicted that Goldust would be one of the WWE’s top five Superstars of 2013, then he must be in contact with Nostradamus. Goldust returned to the WWE as part of Cody Rhodes’ firing storyline. Although it seems like Goldust has been around forever, he actually started wrestling at a very young age and he’s still only 44 years old. Goldust wrestled to critical acclaim in 2013 by toning down his bizarre character and working incredible matches.

1. Daniel Bryan

Daniel Bryan proved there is still room at the top of the WWE for an outstanding wrestler. Bryan broke the mold of previous WWE main event Superstars by letting his wrestling do most of his talking in 2013. Although The Authority thwarted most of Bryan’s visions of grandeur in 2013, he did win the WWE Championship on two occasions. Despite finishing 2013 out of the WWE title picture, Daniel Bryan is still the most popular Superstar in the promotion.

And if that isn’t enough to prove he had the best year of any WWE wrestler, keep in mind he also got engaged to Brie Bella in 2013.
